Cancer is a diagnosis that half of all Canadians will face in their lifetime. Donor-funded research is taking place right now in BC, at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, and other centres of research excellence supported by VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.

The state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment available in Vancouver attract some of the best researchers from around the world, allowing BC patients to be among the first to benefit from global research breakthroughs.

This research will change the outcomes for cancer patients here in BC and around the world.

Shell Busey, former host of BCTV’s Home Check, learned this first-hand. When a routine check-up revealed a prostate cancer diagnosis, he came to the Vancouver Prostate Centre for surgery.

“I’ll never forget the day that we went into the office,” Busey says. “[My doctor] looked me in the eye and said Shell, you got cancer. That was one of the scariest times in my life.”

Busey underwent successful surgery and nine years later, he is still cancer-free, thanks in large part to donor-funded research and equipment at the Vancouver Prostate Centre at VGH.

Generosity is transforming the health care of tomorrow for all British Columbians. Your donation can support cancer research that enables earlier detection, improves treatment options, and improves and saves the lives of patients locally and globally.

As Shell says… It’s Just That Easy!
