Djavad Mowafaghian draws his philanthropic inspiration from the example demonstrated by his mother, whose gestures of kindness to friends and strangers alike made a lasting impact.

An extraordinary community leader and dedicated philanthropist, Mr. Mowafaghian continues in the same tradition by making a tremendous impact on the lives of many British Columbians. Donated through the Djavad Mowafaghian Foundation, a gift of $2 million in support of the provincial Stroke Program at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) will strengthen and advance stroke treatment and care today and into the future. It is the largest single donation ever made to the Hospital’s Stroke Program.

After learning about the talent and vision of the medical experts who make up the Stroke Program Team at VGH, Mr. Mowafaghian was moved to show his support. In gratitude, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation is privileged to recognize Djavad Mowafaghian and name the Neurosciences Unit at VGH in his honor.
