Malcolm and Mary Jane Crerar enjoy retirement together, thanks in part to the cardiac care Malcolm received at VGH.

At   the age of 49, Malcolm Crerar was diagnosed with severe angina. With blockages of up to 95% in his four main arteries, Malcolm underwent open heart surgery at VGH. That was nearly 20 years ago. After being given only a 10% chance of survival, Malcolm is grateful that he beat the odds.

In 2006, Malcolm and Mary Jane Crerar decided to include VGH as a beneficiary in their will. “This gift is our way to say thank you to the doctors and nurses for giving us these additional and wonderful years together.”

The couple is pleased their legacy gift will help VGH purchase new, modern equipment to assist in extending the lifespans of future cardiac patients.
