Dr. Roger Wong, consultant geriatrician at VGH and founder of the ACE program.

Thanks to a generous donation from the estate of Joan Klein, Vancouver General Hospital’s Acute Care for Elders (ACE) Units were able to purchase an additional blanket warmer and new furniture for the two lounges in the ACE Units, improving the experience of patients and their families while in hospital.

“At a concrete and physical level, patients and their families will have a warmer and more comfortable environment thanks to Joan’s gift,” says Dr. Roger Wong, consultant geriatrician at VGH and founder of the ACE program.

Joan was inspired to give to geriatric medicine at VGH through her estate after her sister, Dorothy, received exceptional care from Dr. Wong. Joan’s legacy gift both honours her sister’s life and makes a real difference for patients, now and into the future.

“I’m very grateful to Joan for her donation and honoured that we were included in her estate plan.” says Dr. Wong.
