On February 24, community leaders, philanthropists, health care partners and friends will come together to celebrate their support of health care in British Columbia. They will enjoy Michelin-starred culinary delights while raising money for health care.

The annual Time to Shine Gala aims to raise $3 million toward improving surgery at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and UBC Hospital as part of the Future of Surgery campaign. This campaign is an ambitious multi-year initiative that will enable VGH to focus on the most complex surgery cases – such as traumas, transplants and complex cancer surgeries.

Since its debut in 2015, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s Time to Shine Gala has raised close to $6 million for the campaign. They hope to add to that incredible total with the fourth annual gala this month.

“We’re very excited for this year’s event,” says Barbara Grantham, President & CEO, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. “Thanks to the hard work and passion of our donors, sponsors, volunteers, health care partners and friends, I know we can reach this goal. This is a group of people truly dedicated to working together to advance innovative, transformational and sustainable health care.”

An evening of culinary collaboration will take place between Fairmont Pacific Rim Executive Chef Nathan Brown and Chef Julien Royer, chef-owner of two-Michelin-starred Odette restaurant in Singapore. The pair will deliver a stunning, unique four-course meal for Time to Shine guests.

“I’m looking forward to working with Chef Royer for such an important cause,” says Chef Brown. “Cooking is especially gratifying when it is going to help so many people around the province.”

In addition to an exclusive dinner, guests will have the opportunity to bid on a live auction for six one-of-a-kind items. Entertainment will be provided by the talented Wings Vocal Collective and the world-famous Goh Ballet who will be performing a special piece for this event only.
