Gala_New Story_BannerNearly 650 guests gathered on Friday, November 21, 2014, making VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s Night of a Thousand Stars Gala a shining success.  The Gala, presented by TELUS, is the Foundation’s opportunity to honour the health care teams who work tirelessly to deliver BC’s most specialized adult health care, and to recognize the visionary donors and supporters who make their work possible.

Held at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, the Foundation’s 19th annual Gala raised more than $1.7 million to complete the funding of a state-of-the-art CT scanner and other urgently needed equipment for Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, GF Strong Rehab Centre, and Vancouver Community Health Services.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2014 Leadership Award to Robert and Greta Ho.  The Leadership Award is the Foundation’s highest honour, and was presented to Robert and Greta Ho in recognition of their philanthropic leadership, and the ongoing impact of their generosity on patient care and health research — benefiting all British Columbians.

“A heartfelt thanks to all of our health care partners, donors, sponsors, supporters and volunteers for helping us to create an evening of inspiration and warm memories,” said Barbara Grantham, President and CEO, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.  “Through your generosity, we provide support that is transforming health care, including new technology for early detection and diagnosis, world class research into better treatments, and recruitment to attract renowned researchers and health care leaders.”

The funds raised at the 2014 Gala will enable VGH and UBC hospital to purchase the second of three critically needed CT scanners.
