VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation was delighted to learn that our very own cancer researcher, transplant surgeon and teacher – and one of BC’s foremost surgeons – Dr. Charles (Buz) Scudamore was recently appointed to the prestigious Order of British Columbia. Buz’s outstanding work continues to extend the lives of British Columbians diagnosed with serious cancers which he works towards one day finding a cure to this devastating disease.

Buz is a staff surgeon here at Vancouver General Hospital, and at BC Children’s Hospital. He is also the surgical director of the BC Liver Transplant Program, developed the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Program at the University of British Columbia and more recently, provided the leadership to create Pancreas Centre BC, to offer hope and improve outcomes for patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation is thrilled that Dr. Scudamore was honoured through this prestigious award, recognizing him for his dedication to improving the quality of life and health care in our province. Congratulations Buz! You have our immense thanks for all you do to help us ensure that our hospitals deliver BC’s best, most specialized care for adults.
