In partnership with Sing Tao Daily and Vancouver Chinatown New Century Lions Club, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation invites you a special evening in support of health care in BC.

As part Sing Tao Daily’s 35th Anniversary celebration, we will honour youth leadership in Vancouver, with an exclusive awards presentation and a performance from a renowned popular artist all the way from Hong Kong.

Your support will help us transform health care for all British Columbians and support our hospitals’ Geriatric Health Program. Managing the complex and chronic health care needs of our growing elderly population has the potential to overburden the provincial health care system. The number of seniors in BC is growing dramatically and this is heralding a need to direct more support towards helping our parents and grandparents age in place with access to high-quality, tailored and holistic health services.

The Acute Care for Elders (ACE) model of care is an effective way of delivering higher-valued care for older patients. The unit was created to ensure VGH is better equipped to meet the needs of a rapidly aging population and complexity of those patients and families grappling with dementia.

Bright Spot is a therapeutic day program that enables isolated seniors, with mental health challenges to socialize, connect with their community, develop leisure interests and learn self-management strategies for health and age related issues. It provides individual occupational therapy assessment and rehabilitation services for older adults who have a mental health diagnosis, concurrent addiction, as well as physical and/or cognitive issues related to aging.
