Where will my donation go?
All donations will support BC health care through VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. Funds will support the Most Urgent Needs fund, which provides flexible funding to support health care workers, purchases vital equipment and fund innovative research projects. Learn more

I don’t want to start a fundraising page, can I still support High Fives for Health Care?
Yes, there are several other ways to show your support:

What does #healthcarehighfive on social media involve and how do I participate?

Follow these five simple steps to participate and share your high five:
1. Make a one-time donation of your chosen denomination of $5
2. Follow @vghfdn on Twitter or Instagram
3. Post a photo or video of the most creative (COVID-19 friendly) high five you can think of
4. Use the hashtag #healthcarehighfive and tag your photo with @vghfdn
5. Tag five friends to do the same

I don’t have an Instagram or Twitter account. Or I am not comfortable posting my image online. How do I participate?
That’s okay. There are other ways to show your support including:

Text to donate
Start your own fundraising page

What if my social media accounts are private? How will you know if I posted?
Unfortunately we are unable to see your post but we are grateful that you have shared our campaign with your network

Peer to Peer Fundraiser

How do I go about setting up a Peer to Peer page?

Can I collect donations in person?
Please contact events@vghfoundation.ca to discuss this further

How will I know if I won one of the incentive prizes?
We will send you an email within one week of closing the peer to peer pages confirming your amount you raised and your prizes.

Do I win all the prizes if I reach that donation level or just a single prize?
You will receive the prize for the donation level you fundraise for

What if I don’t have anyone complete my challenge?
That’s okay! We know not everyone will complete your challenge, but feel free to keep challenging more people to reach your Fundraising goal and win those prizes.

Text to Donate

How does Text to Donate work?
A one-time donation of $5 or $25 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance. All donations must be authorized by the account holder. All charges are billed by and payable to your mobile service provider. Service is available on most carriers. Donations are collected for the benefit of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation by the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada and subject to the terms found here.

Where can I get my tax receipt from Text to Donate?
VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation is not responsible for the issuing of tax receipts through text to donate. Each donor is provided with a link to Mobile Giving Foundation Canada website post-donation, where you can complete the steps to retrieve your tax-receipt.

Will I automatically receive my tax-receipt from my Text to Donate?
Tax-receipts are not automatically sent. Each donor is provided with a link to Mobile Giving Foundation Canada’s website post-donation, where you can complete the steps to retrieve the tax-receipt.

How will I know if I am entered in the weekly random prize draw on Twitter or Instagram?
You will automatically be entered into the weekly random prize draw when you follow the contest rules and regulations here

How will I know if I am entered into the grand prize contest on Instagram?
Please follow the instructions at vghfoundation.ca/contest to be entered into the grand prize contest on Instagram. Learn more about contest rules and regulations here

To be eligible for the contest, your Instagram account must be public. Videos, IG stories, and carousel photos will not be accepted.

All Instagram tagged photos require approval. Once approved, photo will be displayed in the gallery at vghfoundation.ca/contest at which stage you will be entered for the weekly random prize draws and grand prize voting contest.

How will I know if I have won one of the weekly prizes?
One (1) winner will be chosen at random and notified on their Twitter or Instagram account.

Week 1: Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 12pm PST
Week 2: Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 12pm PST
Week 3: Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 12pm PST
Week 4:  Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 12pm PST
Week 5: Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 12pm PST

How will I know if I have won the grand prize?

Three winners will be chosen by popular vote on vghfoundation.ca/contest and will be announced on Tuesday, November 17 at 12pm PST. The person with the most votes wins first place prize, second most votes wins second place prize and third most votes wins third place prize.

Can I submit more than one photo?
Yes, we encourage you to submit as much as you want to increase your chances of winning a prize. Make sure to encourage your friends to vote in the photo gallery for grand prize.

Will I be entered into every weeks draw if I post in the first week or will it only be for that week?
You will will be entered at the date of entry for all remaining random draws (if the voting contest requirements are met). Increase your chances of winning one of the weekly random prize draws by posting sooner. Learn more about the contest rules and regulations here

Can I vote on entries for the grand prize more than once?
Yes, you can vote for your favourite photo every 24 hours.
