VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation partners with donors to provide the funds essential to ensuring that our hospitals and health teams can deliver BC’s best, most specialized care for adults. We raise over $61 million annually for Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and Vancouver Community Services.

POSITION SUMMARY
In consultation with the Sr. Vice President for Finance and Information Systems, and through regular collaboration with other Foundation staff, the incumbent provides support in three primary areas:

Web Development and Programming
Designs, creates, manages, programs and deploys the online channel architectures, including social media, necessary to support the Foundation’s philanthropy and marketing programs.

Analysis, Reporting and Data Management
Data analysis, extractions, reporting, and similar activities related to ensuring that the Foundation has an effective online presence and that relevant information and transactions are captured in related systems such as the fundraising database.

Staff Training and Support
Trains staff on best online practices and on how to be more productive with the tools they use by leading formal training sessions, preparing related materials, trouble-shooting and answering questions.

The incumbent will plan and develop the vision for enhancements to the Foundation’s online presence that will have a measurable impact on the success of the Foundation’s fundraising and constituent engagement activities. The incumbent will employ advanced, hands-on, technical skills associated with an experienced and successful web designer/programmer/analyst.

There will be a strong emphasis on leveraging the use of analytics to measure and audit the effectiveness of the Foundation’s online presence.

The incumbent is expected to participate at an appropriate level in both educational and networking activities related to the position in ways that reflect the desire of VGH & UBC Foundation to be “best in class.”

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum three to five years of experience in a fundraising environment or equivalent experience in the corporate sector.
• Superior understanding of online web technologies including social media and their use in marketing, engagement and financial transactions. This knowledge should include related business processes, database concepts, data integrity and analytics.
• Demonstrated ability in programming techniques and languages such as HTML, JavaScript, PHP, relational database concepts and the desire and ability to learn new technical skill as architectures change.
• Working knowledge of a content management system such as WordPress, online financial transactions, online events management and experience with a fundraising database such as Raiser’s Edge are a plus.
• Proven advanced understanding and working knowledge of concepts of graphic design, photography, video and print media.
• Proven high-level proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premier Pro or equivalent software.
• University degree or technical diploma, ideally in web related or information systems or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to understand the context of day-to-day work in relation to the Foundation’s strategic plan.
• Highly developed critical thinking; ability to work with, and manipulate, data and to synthesize information and create systems and reports that are effective and easily interpreted and understood by Foundation staff.
• Mature, able to work independently and also known for being a strong team player with a collaborative work style.
• Highly developed interpersonal and relationship skills and ability to identify needs and develop solutions for a diverse group of users.
• Good presentation and training skills with an ability to explain technical and related concepts to non-technical staff.
• Thrives in a highly competitive industry and a fast-paced work environment. Able multi-task and manage a variable workflow, which may include significant involvement in major projects. Able to balance multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
