The simplest way is to include a bequest in your will. You can designate a specific dollar amount or an item such as real estate, jewelry or art.
Here is a sample of bequest wording to get you started: “To pay the sum of $_________ OR _______% of the residue of my estate to VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation to be applied by the Foundation’s Board of Directors at its discretion, for the general purposes of the Foundation.”
Yes! Your gift can be directed to a specific area or to the hospital’s most urgent needs. Contact Lisa Shearer at 604.290.1455 for correct wording to direct your legacy gift to your preferred area of care or research.
Yes. If you leave a gift in your will, your estate will receive a tax receipt and can claim a charitable tax credit for the full amount of your gift, up to 100% of your net income in that year. Any excess tax credit can be carried back to the previous year.
