VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation released its second annual review earlier this week. A feature story in the Review, celebrates our ½ billion milestone. Since 1980, with support from our donors, the Foundation has raised over $500,000,000, helping our hospitals and medical teams make incredible advances in health care, and benefiting millions of patients and families across BC.
Some of our accomplishments this past year include:
- In 2012-13 alone, we raised record revenues of $61.4 million.
- Significant funds were raised to help build the Joseph & Rosalie Segal Family Health Centre, a desperately-needed mental health facility.
- Innovative imaging equipment for breast reconstruction surgery was purchased.
- The Night of a Thousand Stars Gala generated record-breaking donations.
- Through TD Bank Group, young physician researchers are able to conduct innovative research.
- Pancreas Centre BC was established and is working to increase survival rates for people with pancreatic cancer.
These are all tremendous endeavors, and none of them would be possible without our donors and supporters. Thanks to them, the Foundation is able to ensure excellence in health care for our communities, and for generations to come.
