VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation recognize Bob Kenny’s generosity and contribution towards the Men’s Health Initiative of BC with a plaque in his name and honour.

Whether they’re large or small, legacy gifts in support of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation can have a profound effect on the health of people across BC’s communities, something that Bob Kenny truly understood. As a longtime Vancouver resident, Bob grew up along with the city: from the opening of the Hotel Vancouver to the construction of the Lions Gate Bridge. Throughout his life, his business and personal successes allowed him to give back to the community that he loved.

One cause, in particular, deeply resonated with him – the Men’s Health Initiative of BC (MHIBC) at VGH. After hearing Dr. Larry Goldenberg (Professor & Head, Department of Urologic Sciences and Director of Development, Vancouver Prostate Centre) speak about the need for a health initiative focused on men, Bob wanted to find out more.

Bob learned that the MHIBC is an innovative and unparalleled movement to improve health and decrease disease in British Columbia’s men. In fact, it’s the first program of its kind in Canada. Looking towards the future, Bob recognized the tremendously positive impact this program would have, not only on men, but also their spouses, their children, their extended families, and their communities.

Inspired by the opportunity to help future generations, Bob wanted to be part of this initiative, and worked with VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation to create a legacy that would ensure a better future for health care in BC. The impact of his $1.25 million gift will be felt province-wide: legacy gifts to VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation provide health care services to communities across BC, providing treatments only available here.

Thanks to Bob’s generosity and his commitment to making the community around him a better place, the MHIBC will continue to help men and their families in his memory.

Legacy gifts of any size help our Foundation ensure excellence in health care for adults in BC.

Help support Bob’s vision.
