加拿大著名艺术家西尔维娅-泰特（Sylvia Tait）是 VGH 和 UBC 医院基金会艺术收藏的早期捐赠者，她长期以来一直支持通过艺术进行治疗。从她在蒙特利尔美术博物馆学习美术期间在医院教授艺术课程，到向我们的治疗中心赠送艺术品，再到为许多公共收藏做出贡献，泰特一直将生命视为一次创意之旅。受到西海岸景观的启发，《旅程--西米尔卡梅恩》将自然和经验转化为形式和色彩的丰富视觉交响乐。从色彩交替的 "噔噔 "声到流畅笔触在画布上汇聚的高潮，泰特层次分明的表面与富有表现力的运动产生了共鸣，让我们陶醉于旅程而非目的地。

A Gift of the Artist

Born the Netherlands, Peter John Voormeij came to Canada in 1965 to pursue his Master of Arts degree from Concordia University. Building on the foundation of his academic training in realism, he embraced a new language of expression and freedom in abstraction. Voormeij put it all into his paintings—celebrating life in the rhythmic forms, rich colours and sweeping gestures, the suffering and the sublime in the hard and soft edges.
Grounded by a gestural form respecting the Earth in the lower canvas, in Start Again Voormeij’s floating organic forms represent “Life in balance,” swirling and vibrating in a centrifugal force of luminous colour and lyrical lines. Ever the optimist, Vooermeij’s Start Again reminds us of the possibility of hope and new beginnings.

Vancouver-based artist Christopher Rodrigues investigates the fringes of painting where it overlaps with collage, photography, sculpture and the digital image. His practise has evolved to examine still life and landscape in digital form from traditional cibachrome prints to NFTs and large-scale exterior installations at Art Basel Miami.
Much like its reference to the Dutch “Golden Age” age of painting in the 17th century when the world was obsessed with flowers, Still Life 07 is a botanically impossible bouquet. A contemporary composition of altered reality painted with pixels of colour from images found on the Internet or scanned from his own paintings, Still Life 07 examines ephemerality in reconstructing nature.
