The Ilich family are builders, in more ways than one. Not only did Milan Ilich’s companies construct streets and houses, but he and his family have helped build and strengthen communities through their philanthropy.
In 2012, through an estate gift, the Milan & Maureen Ilich Foundation donated $5 million to our hospitals, an incredible gesture of thoughtfulness, generosity and community spirit.
One of the Ilich Foundation’s mandates has been to help people with multiple sclerosis. In that spirit, $2.5 million has been dedicated to MS research, to advance new discoveries and find more effective treatment options. An additional $2.5 million helped fund urgently needed equipment across our hospitals – including anesthesia, echocardiogram and organ transplant machines – helping improve the care and health of patients across BC.
The Milan & Maureen Ilich Foundation has donated millions to our hospitals over the years.
The Ilich family has made numerous additional contributions. During his lifetime, the late Milan Ilich and his wife Maureen were deeply committed to health care excellence at both VGH and UBC Hospital. In addition to their support for MS, they have funded two MRIs at VGH and contributed to a robot-assisted surgical suite, as well as research relating to prostate disease, pancreatic cancer and the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program.
The Ilich family’s impact and inspiration lives on through their charitable actions. Patients with the most complex diseases, conditions and injuries are benefiting from their leadership and generosity. Milan and Maureen are examples of rare individuals who donate selflessly to others, and are an inspiration to us all.
Support MS research.
