Our Board of Directors is comprised of many accomplished and dedicated business and community leaders. They govern VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation and are ultimately responsible for its strategic direction and overall performance. By adhering to good governance practices, they ensure the Foundation has the capacity and capability to meet both its short and long term goals.
Noordin Nanji, Chair
Noordin Nanji is a partner in Stikeman Elliott’s Vancouver Corporate and Securities Group. He advises public and private companies with respect to mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, the formation and financing of both public and private business ventures and complex strategic transactions. Mr. Nanji is AV Peer Review Rated according to Martindale-Hubbell (Very High to Pre-eminent), its highest level of professional ranking.
Mr. Nanji was a partner with another Canadian law firm from 1989-1998. While in private practice, Mr. Nanji was cited as a Canadian leader in corporate finance, corporate commercial, and forestry law by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. He was also recognized by EuroMoney magazine as leading corporate finance counsel in the “Guide to the World’s Leading Capital Markets Lawyers.”
From 1998-2009, Mr. Nanji held various senior executive positions at Ballard Power Systems Inc. While at Ballard, Mr. Nanji was responsible for developing most of Ballard’s key strategic initiatives and held several senior executive roles, focusing on strategy, corporate and business development, intellectual property, corporate governance and complex international transactions.
Mr. Nanji has served on the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Lower Mainland and served as Chairman of the Aga Khan International Conciliation and Arbitration Board.
Christina Anthony, Vice Chair
Christina is a Vice President, Portfolio Manager and Director at Odlum Brown Limited and serves of the firm’s Executive Committee. She is a portfolio manager for high net-worth individuals and trusts. Christina is also the Chair of the Board of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs of BC, a non-profit organization she founded in 2002 that provides education and mentorship to women entrepreneurs.
Prior to joining Odlum Brown, Christina worked at Goldman Sachs as a Portfolio Manager in Seattle and a bond trader and investment banker in New York. Christina is a graduate of the Portfolio Management Foundation program at UBC.
She serves as Vice Chair of the Board of the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation Board and as a board member of BC Lotteries Corporation. Her most recent accolade was being awarded the Top person Under 40 Award by the Investment Industry Association of Canada (IIAC) in 2015. In 2011, Christina was honoured with the YWCA Women of Distinction Award and the Association of Women in Finance Community Legacy Award. In February 2010, Christina was honoured with the opportunity to carry the Olympic torch for RBC for her outstanding community leadership. Christina received the UBC Outstanding Young Alumnus Award in 2008, was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™ in 2008, and was one of Canada’s Most Powerful Top 100 Women by the Globe and Mail in 2006.
Christina grew up in Richmond and currently lives with her husband, Matthew, and four children in Vancouver.
