This Women’s Brain Health Day, we are pleased to announce that Western Canada’s first women’s stroke clinic has officially opened at VGH, led by Dr. Alyson Plecash and the Vancouver Stroke Program (VSP).
The majority of people who experience and die from strokes are women. If they survive, they face greater challenges with recovery compared to men.
Thanks to donor support, the VSP has been able to recruit and retain the next generation of stroke experts like Dr. Plecash, who completed her donor-funded VSP fellowship in 2022 with a specific interest in women’s cerebrovascular health.
VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation has long been a supporter of the VSP, harnessing the power of philanthropy to drive world-leading care and cutting-edge research that is changing the future of strokes as we know it.
