SCORING

This year we will be changing to the Peoria scoring system.  It is a one day handicapping system and does not require that golfers submit their handicaps in advance.

The golf course will secretly select 6 holes – two par 3s, two par 4s and two par 5s. The course will select one hole from the front nine and one hole from the back nine for each par level (as much as possible).

Each foursome will tee off, playing stroke play and scoring in the normal fashion. The exception is the maximum a golfer can score on a hole is double par (ie. 8 is the maximum score on a par-4).

At the end of the tournament, golfers will hand in their score cards and the golf course will calculate the Peoria net score of each golfer for the day. The lowest two scores in each foursome will be added together to determine the top teams.

HOW IT’S CALCULATED – AN EXAMPLE
A player scores 90 on the course (and 30 on the 6 secret holes).  The course is a par-72.
Peoria step one – multiple secret hole score by 3: 30 x 3 = 90
Peoria step two – subtract course par from score: 90 – 72 = 18
Peoria step three – take 80 percent of previous amount: 18×80% = 14 (with rounding). This is the player’s allowance
Peoria step four – subtract allowance from gross score: 90 – 14 = 76

76 would be considered to be the final net score of the player.
