Most people know that our hospitals and health care teams receive substantial public funding from the government, ensuring a good standard of care overall. However, truly excellent health care requires more: it needs the financial support of donors.

At VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, we partner with our donors to raise funds for VGH, UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and Vancouver Community Health Services. It’s our donors who deliver ‘the essential plus,’ ensuring a continuum of care, from hospital services to community health.

Our donors help us deliver excellence in health care, so that our hospitals and health care teams can continue to treat the vast majority of illnesses and injuries, no matter how complex or rare. In fact, VGH is the province’s only accredited Level 1 Trauma Centre; together with UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehab Centre, it’s the province’s main adult referral centre, with 40% of patients coming from outside Metro Vancouver. Doctors at the forefront of their specialties care for patients, discover new treatments through internationally acclaimed research and, on top of that, help educate the next generation of health care professionals.
