Grateful patient Rebecca Gingell honours the angels on her acute care team.

On December 9, Rebecca Gingell paid tribute to the angels who have supported her.

When Rebecca was just 15 years old, she was diagnosed with a bone disease so rare that it only affects 3.4 people in every million, leaving her bedridden for over four years.

Luckily for Rebecca, she had specialized health care teams at VGH and GF Strong Rehab Centre looking over her, including Dr. David Thompson, Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Endocrinology, who discovered a treatment plan for her rare disease. Miraculously, Rebecca is now back on her feet, attending university, and enjoying life to the fullest.

During VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s annual fundraiser, Rebecca paid tribute to Dr. Thompson and the other angels who supported her. As part of this campaign, people are invited to make a donation to the Foundation and dedicate angel ornaments to doctors, nurses, friends or family who’ve made a difference in their lives.

Our yearly Angel fundraiser raises funds for urgently needed hospital equipment. Since 2001, it has raised nearly $2 million through the compassion and generosity of our donors. We thank you.[:zh]
