CHEQUE PRESENTATION- DE BEERS - TIME TO SHINE - SOMBILON PHOTOGRAPHY

Feb 24 – More than $1.3 million was raised on Saturday, February 21, 2015, during the inaugural De Beers Time to Shine Gala, benefitting VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.

The Gala represents the Foundation’s first Asia Pacific event, and drew together nearly 400 community leaders at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, Vancouver. Net proceeds from the evening will help fund a state-of-the-art computerized tomography (CT) scanner for the Emergency Department at Vancouver General Hospital.

“The evening’s “East meets West” theme was a remarkable cultural and culinary experience,” says Barbara Grantham, President and CEO of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. “We brought together guests who have lived here for generations as well as new Canadians, and together we achieved a common goal: to make a difference in the health and well-being of British Columbians from across this province,” Grantham adds.

Through the support of donors, sponsors, and partners, the Foundation is closer to its goal of funding the third of three CT scanners for VGH and UBC Hospital. Together, VGH & UBC hospital conduct more than 50,000 CT scans each year – giving doctors the critical information they need to diagnose, treat and monitor patients.

“The support we have received leading up to and through our Gala has been inspiring. Our success is due to the generosity of so many people who have given their time, money and talent to help us create a unique and memorable evening,” notes Cecilia Tse, De Beers Jewellery Time to Shine Gala Chair.
