Celebrating 25 Years of Art & Healing

Our Art Collection’s Impact

For 25 years, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s Art Collection has been the creative heart of our health care centres, providing a calming and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors alike.

From postmodern abstractions to coastal landscapes, the waiting rooms and corridors of Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre are now home to a collection of more than 2,800 stunning works of art. Central to our belief in the power of art to heal, we celebrate contemporary work by prominent Canadian artists like Susan Point and David Robinson, as well as artists of international stature like Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol.

Help us celebrate 25 years of art and healing with a gift of artwork or philanthropic gift of support. Your donation will help to manage and care for our collection, ensuring it continues to inspire and heal for years to come.

The healing power of art

Roberta realized the uplifting impact art can have on people going through tough times after visiting a hospital in LA and seeing its collection. And as a former VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation Board Chair, she saw an opportunity.

Through Roberta’s passion for art and drive to do good, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s Art Collection was born.

“I’ve always appreciated art, so that resonated with me. I also saw the impact that I could have on thousands of people coming into the health care centres every day. As a donor, you feel that you’re contributing to the wellbeing of other people.”
