For Rick Mahler, giving back to the community is part of his life. Over the years, he’s been involved in numerous non-profits, including nine years on the Board of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, three of which he served as Chair. However, Rick’s commitment goes beyond Board work. As part of his estate plan, Rick and his wife Susan decided to leave a legacy gift in support of the 600,000 people treated at VGH each year.
For Rick, leaving a legacy gift to VGH in his will was an easy decision. “We all know how important it is to give back to the communities where we live, work and play,” says Rick. “My rule of thumb is to give ten percent of my income to charity, so I figured why not do the same with my estate. Naturally, VGH topped my list.”
We’re grateful to people like Rick, who make it a priority in life to support and help others.
